CARE

Every piece of Wild Balance jewelry is made to be worn, loved, and lived in. With that said, a little care goes a long way in keeping your metals looking their best. Each material has its own quirks and preferences. Below you’ll find simple tips for cleaning and storing your jewelry, so you can keep them shining without overthinking it.

Metals

Sterling Silver

Sterling silver has a bad habit of tarnishing over time, especially when exposed to moisture and chemicals. If your jewelry starts to look dull, give it a gentle clean with warm water and dish soap. Add a little elbow grease if needed and brush the metal lightly with a soft toothbrush. Rinse well and dry with a polishing cloth or a soft piece of cotton.

Skip the paper towels or tissues, they cause tiny scratches that can dull the surface over time. And one more thing: don’t polish the stones.

ANTIQUE Brass

This brass has been oxidized for a soft, rustic finish. Over time, the patina will fade if it’s exposed to water or irritation from things like sleeping, showering, sweating, or swimming. If you want to keep the weathered look, just be mindful and take them off before any of those activities.

Glass beads

Glass seed beads are durable but can easily be crushed if pressure is applied when placed between hard objects. Avoid placing any hard or heavy objects on top of or against your jewelry.

14K Gold Fill

Gold Fill is a thick layer of gold mechanically bonded to a base metal. It’s not plating, which means it won’t flake or rub off and with the right care, it can last a lifetime.

When your earrings start to lose their sparkle, a quick fix is a to rinse with soap and water. For a deeper clean, you can spritz them with rubbing alcohol, ammonia, or even Windex, then rinse in cold water. Always finish by polishing with a soft cotton cloth.

Like all metals, the surface may pick up tiny marks over time. That’s normal and part of what gives your jewelry its lived-in character.

14K Gold GILDED

The tiny 1.5mm spacer beads used on the Essex and a few other gold hoop styles are the only gilded pieces we use. Gilded means a thin layer of gold is applied over a base metal, not as thick or durable as Gold Fill, but still beautiful with the right care. The base metal underneath is close in tone to gold, so if the gilding softens over time, the change will be subtle.

ONLY polish THE METAL · DO NOT POLISH OR DIP STONES

Seriously. If you’re using a cleaner, liquid or cloth, avoid the stone itself. Polishing the rock part will actually dull the surface instead of brightening it.
